HYUNGBIN JUNG, D.M.A.

TRUMPETER I EDUCATOR

Dr. Hyungbin Jung is an active performer and educator throughout the United States, South America, Oceania, and Asia. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, he is currently freelancing in the Southern California Orange County-Los Angeles area.

As a performer, he has performed with Vermont Symphony, Guanajuato Symphony in Mexico, and Springfield Symphony, as well as various chamber ensembles, including brass quintets, trumpet ensembles, and mixed chamber ensembles. He has also been featured as a soloist with Concordia Sinfonietta, Wright State University, and the Missouri State University Symphony Orchestra.

As a dedicated educator, his private trumpet students accomplished in many prestigious schools and orchestras, also receiving prizes from national and international music competitions. He is currently serving as an Assistant Director of Instrumental Music as well as a conductor at Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, California. He has been teaching elementary to university-level students, including applied trumpet performance undergraduate students and brass chamber ensemble students, while he was pursuing his doctoral degree at Boston University. He has also served as a teaching assistant at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. He has coached woodwinds, brass, and percussion sections from numerous high schools, youth orchestras, university chamber ensembles, and large ensembles.

Besides performing and teaching, he is a member of the International Trumpet Guild (ITG). He has serves as a Prelude Coordinator for the ITG Conferences held annually in different regions.

Jung holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, a Master of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Missouri State University. His primary teachers included Terry Everson, Alan Siebert, Phil Collins, and Grant Peters.
